About Our Company

Lean On Us Unity, LLC (LOUU) was founded in summer 2012 with a rigorous plan to develop a transitional housing facility primarily to serve pregnant teens who were in the foster care system—an often overlooked population. The plan included partnerships with Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) in Washington, DC and the Department of Social Services (DSS) in Northern Virginia to house the girls and aid them in transitioning into motherhood. However, after carefully studying teen pregnancy populations in the Washington, DC metro area, it was discovered that the need for support services for pregnant teens extended beyond those in the foster care system. As a result, in winter 2013 Lean On Us Unity-House of Faith (LOUU-HOF), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit, was birthed to serve pregnant teens and young adult mothers, directly.

Over the last five years, LOUU and LOUU-HOF have made great strides in its mission to help improve the quality of pregnant teens and young adult mothers’ lives by offering programs and services that will aid them in gaining self-sufficiency.

In spring 2019, LOUU is proud to open a state-of-the-art childcare center that will be affordable for young adult mothers who have limited income.
